The session featured Roser Segarra, director of Human Resources at ALDI Spain, president of Aedipe Catalunya and an Economics ‘97 alum, and David Reyero, head of Talent at Sanofi Iberia, and was moderated by Isabella Meneghel, UIC Barcelona lecturer and expert in organisational psychology and workplace wellbeing
The tenth edition of the Alumni Breakfast Club, held on 25 March under the title “Talent with Purpose: Leadership that Transforms People and Organisations”, focused the discussion on how organisations can foster talent in a context of transformation, where technology and people must advance together.
During the event, participants explored how organisations can create environments that support talent development in a context shaped by technological transformation and a constantly evolving job market. In this scenario, importance was also attached to combining knowledge, personal focus and talent management aligned with each professional stage.
David Reyero turned the spotlight to individual employability, underlining the need to identify one’s unique value. Concepts such as ikigai, the intersection of strengths and passions and grit, meaning passion and perseverance, were central to the discussion, alongside the relevance of building a strong personal brand based on authenticity, setting oneself apart and the ability to communicate one’s value proposition.
Roser Segarra highlighted the importance of keeping people at the centre in the age of artificial intelligence. She noted that successful organisations are those that foster a culture open to learning, embracing mistakes and continuous change, integrating digital transformation through effective leadership.
Both speakers agreed that technology will not replace people but will require new skills and processes for reskilling and upskilling. In this context, skills such as emotional intelligence, empathy and mentoring are becoming increasingly essential.
The session concluded with a reflection on talent engagement, particularly among younger professionals, and the importance of building coherent organisational cultures that promote the attraction and retention of top talent.
