On Wednesday, the Aula Jardí at UIC Barcelona was filled with emotion, memories and reunions as the University hosted the 30th anniversary celebration of the INEDE Class of 1995. The event, organized by the Alumni Department, brought together more than fifty former students from the Economics, Law, and BBA degree programmes in a warm and festive atmosphere.
The rector of UIC Barcelona, Dr. Alfonso Méndiz, opened the event with a speech reflecting on the University’s history and evolution since its beginnings, highlighting the essential role played by its graduates in its development. Alumni director Frederic Van Dyck also addressed the audience, stressing the importance of keeping the Alumni network alive and the positive impact it has on the University’s present and future. In addition, he encouraged attendees to remain connected by sharing their experience and knowledge with the Alumni Community.
Also in attendance was the dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Rafael Oliver; the dean of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, Dr. Marta Mas; and Alumni coordinators, Montserrat Nebrera and Dr. David Tanganelli.
One of the most inspiring moments of the evening was the talk by lecturer Xavier Amat (INEDE Alumni ’84), entitled "Love and Communication". His presentation encouraged reflection on the importance of listening and how we relate to others and how honest, empathetic communication can transform our personal and professional relationships.
Following the official ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail reception in the campus gardens, where there was no shortage of anecdotes, warm embraces and excitement at seeing each other again after so many years. It was an evening filled with emotion, nostalgia and a strong sense of community.
