The UIC Barcelona Architecture Alumni Community reunites at the first Architecture Alumni Gathering

On Friday 3 October, graduates from various cohorts of the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Architecture at UIC Barcelona came together for the first Architecture Alumni Gathering. Organised by the UIC Barcelona Alumni Department, the event brought together over 150 former students at SIMON’s La Casa de la Llum.

Esteban Bretcha, CEO of SIMON, expressed his pride in hosting the event and in being part of the hARQware Platform Chair – a collaboration between UIC Barcelona, SIMON and TdB Architects – which promotes research, innovation and teaching in architecture and design.

The rector of UIC Barcelona, Alfonso Méndiz, highlighted the importance of keeping the Alumni community active: “Share your successes, because they are ours too.” He encouraged attendees to remain connected to the University through the Collaborate programme and to act as ambassadors for UIC Barcelona in their professional and social circles.

A roundtable with graduates from different generations

🫱🏻‍🫲🏼 The programme included a roundtable discussion featuring graduates from a range of cohorts and professional backgrounds: Jordi Ayala (2008, Arquitectura-G), Alice Nicoleta Raducan (2022, Alco Studio), Eva Sanllehi (2013, Lachina International Architects) and Ignacio Morente (2018, I’M Arquitectura). The session was moderated by Borja Ferrater (2005, ELIA and OAB) and Jordi Roviras (2009, Roviras Castelao Arquitectura). Participants reflected on their time at the University, their professional journeys and the value of maintaining connections beyond the classroom.

They shared personal experiences, anecdotes from their student days at the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture and insights into how staying engaged with the university community has supported both early career development and long-term professional growth.

🎶 The meeting concluded with a drinks reception and live music performed by Architecture graduate Marcos Puig.

🌐 A night filled with emotion, reunions and networking that strengthened the bonds within a community that continues to grow.
