Football fans say, “these colours are in my blood.” I feel that I am always wearing the colours of UIC Barcelona and everything I lived and learned during my university time.
My time at the UIC marked my life deeply, both personally and professionally. Not only did I train academically, but I lived university life intensely: I was an intern in two departments, I participated in multiple activities, congresses and volunteer programmes, and I took advantage of every opportunity presented to me. This total involvement helped me develop skills that I apply today in everyday life: organisation, communication, empathy and teamwork. But above all, I learned to trust myself, to leave my comfort zone and to find the basis of my vocation as a nurse in commitment and enthusiasm.
UIC Barcelona has been my home for more than a decade, and representing its essence is my way of thanking all that I experienced and inspiring future generations. I was not an academically excellent student, but I was passionate about what I was doing. This has taken me a long way: to train as a midwife in England; study a master's degree in the USA and carry out research at Harvard. None of this would have been possible without the motivation, values and references I discovered at the University.
